Our Story
The Beginning
Anderson’s Shoes & Boots was founded in 1971 by Mary Frances Anderson and has been serving Attalla Alabama and the surrounding area ever since. Mary Frances created Anderson’s Shoes & Boots with one simple principle in mind, finding the perfect fit. Fifty years later and that principle is still at the core of our business. Anderson’s Shoes & Boots grew quickly; outgrowing our first two locations before finally purchasing the current location from the City of Attalla and setting up shop on Highway 77 in 1997. After building the business for nearly two decades, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson began looking forward to retirement but were faced with the question of who to leave the business to. After 16 years with family at the helm, it seemed only fitting for the Andersons to leave the business in the very capable hands of their daughter Tammy Anderson Allen who had been working full time as an employee and buyer since college. With Anderson still running the business, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson happily retired, confident that their business was in good hands. After officially becoming the owner of Anderson’s Shoes & Boots in 1987, Tammy quickly saw that there was a gap in the local shoe market. With Attalla and the surrounding area being a hub of automotive, steel, and construction industries, Tammy noticed that there was a lack of available safety footwear, as well as experienced professionals who could help match workers with the right shoes to keep them safe while they were on the job. Tammy went to work filling this gap in the market and has since helped Anderson’s Shoes & Boots become the top provider of safety shoes in Etowah County and the surrounding area. In addition to our vast selection of tennis shoes, boots, and other everyday wear, our employees will help you find the best safety shoe on the market for your needs.
New Generation
Our safety shoes are OSHA-ANSI approved to ensure that you stay safe and comfortable on the job. In addition to bringing safety shoes to the store, in 2005 Tammy launched Anderson’s Shoes & Boots first Shoe Mobile, a 24-foot truck that travels the Southeast, bringing safety shoes right to the job site. Anderson’s Shoes & Boots has continued to grow exponentially since, adding a second Shoe Mobile and 2,000 square feet to the Atalla store. This growth was put to the test during the COVID-19 pandemic, but as with many small businesses Anderson’s Shoes & Boots pulled through and came out on the other side of the pandemic stronger than ever, thanks to the support of our loyal customers. Today, Anderson’s Shoes & Boots is celebrating its 50 year anniversary, and we are proud to have had 4 generations of Anderson’s working to make this business the best that it can be.
